What is Domain Mapping

Domain Mapping refers to the process of connecting a domain name to a website or web application, enabling the domain to serve the content hosted elsewhere. It is often used when a domain is registered with one provider but hosted on a different platform. Domain mapping allows users to access content on one server using a different domain name, often for the purposes of rebranding, better navigation, or content redirection.

- In the New Domain Name field, enter the domain you want to map.
- cPanel will automatically fill in the Subdomain and Document Root fields, but you can change them if needed.

Update DNS Records:
- After adding the domain, you need to update the DNS records for the domain.
- Log in to the domain registrar where the domain is registered and find the DNS management section.
- Update the A Record to point to the IP address of the hosting server where cPanel is set up.
Configure Redirection (Optional):
- In cPanel, go to the Domains section and click on Redirects if you want to set up redirection.
- Choose the type of redirect (Permanent or Temporary) and the domain you want to redirect.
- Enter the destination URL and click Add.
Wait for DNS Propagation:
- It may take some time for the DNS changes to propagate across the internet. This process can take up to 24-48 hours.
By following these steps, you can map a domain to your cPanel account and manage it efficiently.
